AIR's Experience with Apprenticeships
AIR has decades of experience in supporting the growth of apprenticeship across regions and industries. Between 2020 and 2025 AIR was under contract with the U.S. Department of Labor to help expand apprenticeship among tech and other occupations. During that time, our partners reported over 3,400 newly hired apprentices across 30 states; which exceeded the annual goal in the final contract year by 194%.
That project was founded on five initial target in-demand occupations across industry sectors, and grew to over 35 occupations in tech and beyond. The initial five occupations with National Guideline Standards supporting them are:
- Tech Support Specialist
- Network Support Specialist
- Cybersecurity Support Technician
- Data Analyst
- Tech Project Coordinator
